An addendum to Art Valet: Artists add spice to quarantined lives, May 20, 2020

I mentioned I had over 30 responses to an email questionnaire about what the artists were up to and how they were doing. As always, the responses were great!

I share more of the responses with you here. The other 2 stories mentioned were the Houston Furniture Bank and Denise Greenwood-Loveless.

From the Artists …

I’m doing pretty good. I think we are experiencing a lifestyle change we didn’t expect and certainly didn’t want which is throwing me off, like most everybody else I’m sure. It’s like life’s paradigm is going thru a shift and no one is really sure how we are  going to wind up.

I guess for me that means a higher concentration of music in my life…both listening and performing. You know me as a photographer with a specialized technique for printing (Platinum/Palladium) and I still do that, but I’ve been playing music nearly all my life so in a sense it’s back to roots for me.

Another photographer, Dan Westfall is publishing a book.

I’m releasing my third book later this month entitled “OBSCURE EUROPE”- A photo journey through Europe’s most unusual destinations. It’s a three-part idea. Part travel, part history and part photography. It will be 43 black and white photos each with a summary. Details here!

From Kiki Neumann, one of my favorite people and mentors (shh, she doesn’t know this!) …

A Facebook Message from Kiki Neumann Creations

We are all getting to reinventing ourselves.

I have gone back to my early art day roots. The days when art shows either didn’t make much money or were rained out. I had to be resourceful and think outside the box.

My bread & butter was selling ‘stuff’ on eBay and Amazon.

And now that many folks  are home itching to still add to their collections or enhance their nest, I am back using my existing seller accounts. Which are in good standing. Been on eBay since 1999.

That means Non Art related stuff is being sold to bring in cash for the bills that NEVER go away- taxes & insurance, home and healthcare. Whew!

Things are still selling well because it’s the whole internet that I am connected to, not just regional shows or stores. I am not selling art but I am selling what people collect.

Plus, it’s time to let go of some of my picking’s. Seems like I was in training for these challenging days.

Double Yeehaw!

Who HASN’T found themselves doing things differently? For artists, that maybe stepping out of the norm and trying a new medium! I love this horse!

From Iwona Jankowski …

I try to create something different why staying at home. I was thinking about it for a long time and finally, I got some time to try my new media! J
Needlework! I have never learned that and do not follow any rules, styles or patterns – just create as I go.
I have finished one artwork (18” diameter) and currently working on second, larger one.
